The airwaves are like a blank canvas, and when we broadcast into them we're presented us with an opportunity to create something special, to create art. Seattleites are spoilt by their non-profit KEXP, Aussies too with their ad-free JJJ. Brits never recovered from the loss of Peel, left with a rougher deal of 6music's pretentious chatter in-place of ads, coupled with overly compressed digital audio.
These were all overshadowed by the unique approach of our modest island's offering. Unashamed to bring back guilty pleasures from bygone days of teen angst, followed by new releases from artists whose home country doesn't acknowledge, then on to a rarity from an album that you loved for years and felt was unappreciated.
